Our Musical Theatre Masterclass Courses is the most popular course within UKTS Performing Arts Academy.
The Musical Theatre Department consists of three groups:
Junior MTMC, Intermediate MTMC & Senior MTMC.
Junior & Intermediate MTMC
In previous years all students attended Main Stream classes and then topped up with other course eg ‘A’ Stream, Musical Theatre, etc. Although students will be able to add course to their timetable each course will ahev its ownset subjects.
From August 2010 Junior & Intermediate Musical Theatre Masterclass will attend for eight hours per week over two days covering Acting for Theatre, Acting through Song, Ensemble Singing, Solo Singing, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre and Vocal Coachings. MTMC students will no longer have to attend separate classes unless they wish.
Junior Musical Theatre Masterclass Students:
o Age 8 – 12 years (a minimum of one year)
o Attending 8 hours per week over a Tuesday & a Wednesday plus show rehearsals & performance hours
o Covering the Stage 1 MT Masterclass Course of:
§ Acting for Theatre, Acting through Song, Ensemble & Solo Singing, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Musical Theatre Performance class and vocal coachings.
o Guest teachers from RSAMD Musical Theatre Dept and West End Show guests
o Jnr MTMC students have inclusion into the full-scale summer production
Intermediate Musical Theatre Masterclass Course:
o Age 13-15yrs (Snr 1 MTMC)
o Attending 8 hours per week over a Tuesday & a Wednesday plus show rehearsals & performance hours
o Covering the Stage 2 MT Masterclass Course of:
§ Acting for Theatre, Acting through Song, Ensemble & Solo Singing, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Musical Theatre Performance class and vocal coachings.
o Guest teachers from RSAMD Musical Theatre Dept and West End Show guests
o Intermediate MTMC students have inclusion into the full-scale summer production
Senior Musical Theatre Masterclass Course:
o Age 15 - 19 years (Snr 2 MTMC)
o Attending approx 12 hours per week plus show/event rehearsals and performance hours:
o Covering the Stage 3 MT Masterclass Course of:
§ Acting (Improvisation/Script Work/Text Analysis/Audition Preparation), Ensemble & Solo Singing, Individual Vocal Coachings, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Acting for Film & Television (with director/coach & camera crew), LAMDA & LCM exam class, Theatre Performance class.
o Guest teachers from RSAMD Musical Theatre Dept, Mountview MT Dept, Arts Ed, Royal Academy of Music and West End Show cast members.
o Snr MTMC students have inclusion into the full-scale summer production plus many other high profile events and festivals throughout the year.
Completion of Junior or Intermediate Masterclass courses does not guarantee placement into Senior MT Masterclass. Placement is strictly by audition.
Students involved in these classes must successfully come through a separate audition process with our head of Musical Theatre Chris JS Wilson. Access into these groups is based on vocal ability as well as acting and dance suitability.
