PRIVATE AUDITIONS

If you were unable to attend our most recent Open AuditionDay for your age group and would still like to be considered for placement in the new term, you have the opportunity to book a private audition!

We are currently taking Private Auditions for new students at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

How can I prepare for my Private Audition?

4-8 years old In a Private Audition, 4-8-year-old applicants are required to:

  • Show a short improvised piece (e.g. a make-believe piece they have made up themselves – up to 1 minute long) or
  • Recite a poem (or a nursery rhyme for pre-primary children) or
  • Sing a verse and chorus of any song of their choice or
  • Show a short dance that they may have learned at dance classes

They can choose to do one or more of the above, and they can show all of the above if they wish – whichever they feel most comfortable performing.

9-12 years old In a Private Audition, 9-12-year-old applicants are required to:

  • Show a short improvised/devised piece (up to 1 minute long) or
  • Perform a monologue or drama speech or
  • Sing a verse and chorus of any song of their choice

If they choose to show a song, this should be a verse and chorus of any piece of their choice.  Songs will be sung unaccompanied; therefore, sheet music is not required at this stage.

Musical Theatre Programme:  Applicants wishing to be part of the Musical Theatre Programmes may be required to complete another singing audition (on another date) where they will sing one musical theatre song accompanied by our pianist.  This audition is usually in front of two panel members, including the head of the Musical Theatre department.

13-18 years old In a Private Audition, 13-18-year-old applicants are required to:

  • Show a short improvised/devised piece (up to 1 minute long) or
  • Perform a monologue or drama speech or
  • Sing a verse and chorus of any song of their choice

If they choose to show a song, this should be a verse and chorus of any piece of their choice.  Songs will be sung unaccompanied; therefore, sheet music is not required at this stage.
